Above Scopello is the ski area of Alpe di Mera, skiing here has benefited from recent investment in snowmaking facilities and three new chair-lifts(2006/7). This is not only a great little resort for beginners but it's sheltered position offers an alternative to the more exposed high altitude skiing above Alagna. Alpe di Mera is a friendly ski resort with a surprisingly good snow record including lots of good easily accessible powder. The family has always enjoyed skiing here and the children made their first real powder tracks here in perfect safety : ) The ski resort also benefits from the traffic free village of Alpe di Mera, accessed only by ski or on foot from the car park at Alpe Trogo, with it's traditional shops and restaurants. This area also provides breathtaking views of the Monterosa Massif.
